The finish times of the top 4 runners on each team will be summed and averaged for a total team time. The men’s and women’s teams with the fastest team times will win the Van Wert Cup, and $1,500 in prize money. The top male and female finisher will receive $500, 2nd – $300, and 3rd – $200. High School 4 Mile
Race along side some of the country’s fastest runners while earning money for your school’s athletic program! When registering for the Van Wert Health 4 Mile, you will be asked if you are affiliated with a high school (you do not need to be a current high schooler to affiliate). By affiliating yourself with a high school, you are helping your team earn money and reducing your team mascot’s time. Each high school team must select a team “mascot” runner who will run the 4 mile race (mascot must be a current high school member of the team). At the conclusion of the race, 1 second will be taken off of the mascot’s final 4 mile time for every person finishing the 4 mile or 1 mile race who indicated they were affiliated with the mascot’s team. For example, if a team mascot ran 20:00 for 4 miles and 30 individuals designated their affiliation to that team on their registration form, the mascots time would be 19:30 [20:00 – (30 people x 1 second per person)]. The team with the fastest mascot time will receive a minimum $250 donation toward their program. Any team with at least 15 individuals who designate they are affiliated with the team will also receive a donation to their program. Mascot’s need not wear actual mascot attire; just designate that they are their team’s mascot during registration.
