We search the country for the very best race locations and are proud to add the Hot Springs Half Marathon to our lineup of destination half marathons. Just like our New River Gorge National Park trail half marathons, this trail half marathon in Hot Springs, Arkansas occurs entirely within the national park!
Why Hot Springs National Park?
Known for its thermal fountains, open springs, sweeping mountain views, and stunning forested trails, Hot Springs National Park was a no-brainer addition to our destination race slate. Hot Springs National Park is one of the most unique and historic locations in the United States. Established before the concept of a national park existed, Hot Springs was the first area to be preserved and set aside by the federal government for future recreation. Consistently ranked as one of the Top 25 National Parks, Hot Springs is a must visit destination.
The Hot Springs Half Marathon
Taking place on February 4, 2023, the inaugural Hot Springs Half Marathon offers a special opportunity for a single loop trail half marathon entirely within the national park trail system. With an average low of 33 degrees and high of 56 degrees in the month of February, Hot Springs, Arkansas has ideal weather for a trail half marathon. Runners will take to Sunset Trail, the longest trail within the national park. This beautiful, well-maintained trail loop features the highest peak in the park (Music Mountain) and Rick’s Pond. The Hot Springs Half Marathon supports the Friends of Hot Springs National Park, a nonprofit organization that maintains and improves the park’s trail system.
The Swag
Event participants will receive a premium, moisture-wicking, long-sleeve event shirt, a Hot Springs Half Marathon bumper sticker, a personalized bib number, post-race refreshments, and all finishers will receive a custom-crafted, commemorative medal. Custom awards will be given to the Top 5 Overall Male and Female Finishers.
