David Herr Grabs Top 10 at Akron Marathon


Akron native and Wolf Creek athlete David Herr achieved a 7th place finish out of 696 runners at the Akron Marathon on September 30th. Herr covered the course in an impressive 2:40:53, besting his previous best time on the challenging Akron course by 34 minutes from four years earlier. He attributes his accomplishment in large part to the people on course. “Friendly faces on the course gave me wings.” David Herr’s next race will be the New River Gorge Trail Festival Half Marathon on December 2 where he will look to claim a new course record.


Josh Duffie’s 2:34:21 at Columbus Marathon


Josh Duffie made the trip from Beaver Falls to the Arch City on October 15th where he lowered his marathon personal best by ten minutes from last year. This performance was good enough for 14th place out of 3,017 marathoners.


Ryan Budnik: 1:11:42 at Indy Half


Ryan Budnik busted some rust at the Indianapolis Half Marathon on October 28th. This was his first half marathon since winning the Kalamazoo Half Marathon back in May. The Michigander hopes to race more often in the upcoming months with the hopes of improving his 5k and 10k times in the spring.


Bridge Day Breaks Streak


Andrew Mascio and Brandon Wise drove down to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia on October 21st to compete in the Bridge Day 5k at New River Gorge National Park. Andrew earned 2nd place overall while Brandon clinched 4th. This race broke Andrew’s winning streak which he held for all of 2023 until this point. His streak began with a course record performance in Texas at the Hoka Rocky Raccoon 50k in February.

McDonnell Masters Mexico

South of the border, Sean McDonnell took to the streets of Playa Del Carmen. Although not partial to warm weather, Sean managed to win both his contests. Sean also competed in the Peace Race on October 8th in Youngstown, Ohio. He captured the 4th position in the race out of 416 runners with a 10k personal best time of 32:56. Sean is planning on making his marathon debut in November at the Philadelphia Marathon with the goal of a Boston qualifying time.
